MV Awards Ceremony March 2012

Over 120 friends, family and supervisors turned out to support the 42 young volunteers who collected awards at Voluntary Action Shetland’s final MV award ceremony, at the Lerwick Town Hall on March 27th 2012, which also celebrated the launch of the Saltire Awards which takes over from MV from April 2012.
The evening was opened by Marilyn Stewart, Voluntary Action Shetland director. In the six years the MV Awards scheme has run in Shetland 246 certificates have been awarded for 50 hours of volunteering, 157 for 100 hours and 90 for 200 hours.
Presentations were made by MSP Tavish Scott, who had made the presentations at the first awards ceremony in March 2006.
An introduction and screening from the youth film company Maddrim Media’s ‘Poverty is Bad, Let’s Fix It’ , showcasing young volunteers, followed. The buffet was accompanied by music from Kaela Jamieson and John Hutchinson. PA was by Stevie Hook and photos by Dave Donaldson.
