MV Awards Event March 2010

Voluntary Action Shetland held their ninth MV Award event at the Shetland Museum and Archives on March 18th 2010.  More than thirty young people were eligible to receive awards at this event; and 15 were able to attend on the night.  Peter Malcolmson, Chair of Voluntary Action Shetland, presented the awards before an invited audience.  Recipients and guests then enjoyed a buffet and music from musicians Kirsten Hendry and Lana Thomson of Brak da Bröd.

Receiving their 200 hour awards for excellence were: Maria Scollay: for volunteering with COPE; Shareen Scollay: Yell Youth Cafe and Keith Williamson: Splinters Youth Theatre and Delting Dolphins.

Receiving their 100 hour awards were: Amy Harper, Lerwick Amateur Swimming Club; Karen Jarmson: Cunningsburgh Village Club; Natalie Leask: Young Enterprise Scotland, Shetland Community Bike Project and Disability Shetland; Eilidh Malcolmson; Sandwick Junior Youth Club; Daryl Titcomb: Delting Boating Club, Brae High School and Young Enterprise Scotland; and Alec Watt: Last Ditchology.  Unable to attend were: James Brewster, Victoria Laurenson, and James Spanswick.

Receiving their 50 hour awards were: Tara Dempster: Shetland Befriending Scheme; Hannah Drakeford:1st Walls Guides; Mary Haviland: Anderson High School, 1st Lerwick Boys Brigade - Anchor Boys and Lerwick Methodist Church; Jason Hunter: Bridges, Michael's Wood and Moving On Employment Project;  John McDiarmid: Sandwick Junior Youth Club and Joel Robinson: Brae High School.  Unable to attend were: Liam Cromwell, Siggy Danielson, Hayley Davies, Lee Dinardo, Zoe Henry, Ashley Hunter, Samantha McKimm, Ricky McLaren.
