Shetland's first Millennium Volunteer Awards were presented by Tavish Scott to 16-25 year olds to recognise their contribution as volunteers.  Jenny Pulley, Catherine Mullay and James Work all gained the 200 hour Award of Excellence.  Jenny volunteered at Edward Thomason House, Catherine helped out with Girl Guiding Shetland and James, a member of the Boy’s Brigade, volunteered at the Out of School Club at Dunrossness.  Kevin Pask and John Leask achieved 100 hour Awards for work with the Boy’s Brigade at Craigielea and Andrew Lindsay did 100 hours volunteering for Shetland Islands CAB.  Other volunteers and representatives of related organisations also attended.  The prize giving ceremony was followed by food, prepared by COPE Ltd, and musical accompaniment by Jillian Isbister.
