Volunteers and the individual they are matched with can do loads of activities around Shetland, experiencing something new, going somewhere they have never been or learning something new.

The types of activities that you can take part in are:

  • Sports activities like badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis, swimming, the gym, health suite, golf and football
  • Arts and Crafts i.e attending workshops, visiting galleries
  • Visiting places of interest around Shetland including visiting museums and heritage centres, beachcombing and going to archeological sites
  • Going for coffee or lunch and having a chat
  • Going to the pictures to see films
  • Walking the dogs

The list is endless.

It is all about having fun and trying new activities

The scheme also offers regular group sessions for volunteers and service users to meet and experience an activity together. The type of activities undertaken have been:

  • Trip to the Pantomime
  • Boat trips with an underwater sea camera
  • Visit to the Lifeboat Station
  • Cake Decorating
  • Group Meals Out
  • Ceramic Painting
  • Canoeing and Abseiling
  • Trampolining
  • Climbing Wall Taster Sessions
  • Cookery Taster Sessions
