Service Relaunch 2016
Shetland Bereavement Support Service has recently re-launched its service as well as starting new partnership working with Shetland Carers alongside their existing and successful partnership with CLAN.
Pictured above at the re-launch are, L-R: Ellen Hughson (holding Bjorn, the bear), SBSS; Dana Malarkie, CLAN; and Kirsten Harcus, VAS Carers Centre.
Fundraising over the past year has raised sufficient funds to resume SBSS’s much needed one-to-one bereavement support service which is open to anyone residing in Shetland. In addition, through new partnership working with Shetland Carers’ Centre, any carer who needs bereavement support can now access SBSS through VAS’ Carer Support, which can continue for up to two years after a caring role has ended. SBSS also continues to accept referrals through Shetland CLAN, which is open to anyone living with cancer including family, carers and friends, during and beyond treatment. Staffed by trained support workers, the bereavement support service is available by appointment only.
