Working in conjunction with the Shetland Fuel Poverty Action Group an Energy Advice Service has recently been set up in the bureau.

This service works together with partner agencies to coordinate the help and assistance that is currently on offer to people who have energy problems. Personalised support is offered to enable clients to maximise their income, understand energy bills and consumption and empower them to make decisions about energy supplies.

Clients are also referred to special advisers within the bureau to address problems such as debt or managing their income,  External referrals can also be made to partner organisations like Shetland Islands Council Energy Unit, Home Energy Scotland and Hjaltland Housing Association.

Outreach work will help to deliver this service to the vulnerable people who need it most. Home visits and group presentations are undertaken to spread the message to the community.

If you would like to access the service, get in touch by calling 01595 694696, emailing on or just drop by the bureau at Market House.
