The Intercounty shoot was held in poor weather with strong wind and wet at times. The shoot was started an hour early and this helped escape the worst of the rain with only the last stand of Sporting being shot in heavy rain.
Competition was close all day with Orkney taking the early advantage to lead by 4 points after the ESK. Shetland gained in the ABT to take a 3 point lead at the half way stage. After the DTL Shetland gained another 2 points to lead by 5 points going into the Sporting. The Sporting was set by the Orkney team to ensure that it had not been practiced. Brilliant shooting from Bryan Sutherland who hit 22 from 25 in the Sporting asisted the Shetland team to maintain a gap over Orkney that in the end was 11 points a close competition.
