The Carers’ Link Group has been fortunate enough to secure funding from the Time to Live Fund. This will in turn allow us to offer carers in Shetland the chance to benefit from a few hours break from their caring role.

We aim to work in partnership with Crossroads to allow carers to also access carer cover for the time that they are receiving their `short break`.

The Link Group also appreciates that Shetland’s geographical spread can make access difficult at times. A small transport budget has therefore been built in to this project to help carers with their travel arrangements.

As carers you have the option of choosing from a menu which is displayed overleaf or suggesting another option which we will try to accommodate subject to funding.

The reason the group has currently set a limit on the cost of sessions is to allow as many carers as possible to benefit from the scheme.

To start with, we are offering a 2 hour session per carer on a first come first served basis. Take up will be reviewed after six months and we will then feed back to carers, if there is money left in the budget, you can come back for more!
