MV Daggri / MV DagalienThere is a defined area on deck to separate pedestrians from vehicles. A powered door opened by a push button leads to the stairway from the deck to the passenger lounge. There is a 50mm threshold to this door. The stairway consists of 26 steps in 2 rises. There is also a passenger lift accessed by a separate door with shallow ramp at deck level. The lift doors are quite heavy so wheelchair users may require assistance. The passenger lounge is large and well lit with drop down seats without arm rests. There is ample space for wheelchairs and it offers splendid views thanks to the large low level windows. In addition to the male and female toilets there is a large unisex accessible toilet suitable for wheelchairs. Tactile signs are fitted to toilet doors. This is situated near the top of the stairs / lift. . Alternative vessel is MV Fivla and is used when main ferries are undergoing maintenance. Toft Terminal (Mainland)The terminal building is situated 150 metres from the ferry ramp via a car park at the landward end and an access road. There is no separation of pedestrians and vehicles on this road although they are kept separate on the ferry ramp. There is one step to the male toilets and one step to the female toilets. Neither is suitable for wheelchairs. Access to the waiting room is via a gate and a high step plus 10mm threshold. The waiting room has bench seats and a payphone. It is not heated. Grab rails are fitted to all entrances which have steps. At the seaward end of the access road there is another smaller car park and a public bus stop. Both are within 25 metres of the ferry ramp. Ulsta Terminal (Yell) The terminal building is situated 97 metres from the ferry ramp via a tarred car park. A safety barrier separates pedestrians and vehicles whilst on the ferry ramp. There is one very shallow step to the male toilets (30mm) and level access to the female toilets. Neither are suitable for wheelchairs. There is no waiting room at this terminal. Grab rails are fitted to all entrances which have steps. .Gutcher Terminal (Yell) There is no segregation of vehicles and pedestrians on the shore ramp. The waiting room is situated 103 metres from the ferry ramp via a tarred access road which is shared with vehicles. There are 2 steps to the waiting room which has bench seats without arm rests. The waiting room is not heated. There are 2 steps to the male toilets and 1 shallow step to the female toilets. Neither are suitable for wheelchairs. Grab rails are fitted to all entrances which have steps. Immediately adjacent to the terminal building is the “Wind Dog Café.” This café has ramped access although there is a 55mm threshold at the main door so wheelchair users may require assistance. The café has ample space for wheelchairs and both male and female toilets are wheelchair accessible with large cubicles and handrails. Normal opening times are 0900 to 1700 Monday to Friday and 1000 to 1700 Monday to Saturday. The café re-opens at 1830 Monday to Saturday for evening meals.
