MV Bigga

 

Door with 2 steps and high threshold at each end of boat leads to passage with toilets.  Passage is narrow with only 600mm clearance and toilet cubicles are very small with 590mm wide doors and 40mm threshold.  Tactile signs are fitted to toilet doors.  From this passage is a steep staircase with 12 steps which leads down to the passenger lounge.  The lounge has bench seats with arm rests at each end.  The emergency exit takes the form of a steep ladder style staircase.

MV Geira

 

1 high step and 300mm threshold at each end of boat leads to narrow passage with toilet.  Toilet cubicle is very small with 600mm wide door and 180mm threshold.  Tactile signs are fitted to toilet doors.  A staircase with 11 steps leads down to the passenger lounge.  Contrast on the staircase is poor and there is restricted headroom towards the foot of the stairs.  The lounge has bench seats with arm rests at each end.  A steep ladder style staircase acts as an emergency exit.

Gutcher Terminal (Yell)

There is no segregation of vehicles and pedestrians on the shore ramp.  The waiting room is situated 103 metres from the ferry ramp via a tarred access road which is shared with vehicles.  There are 2 steps to the waiting room which has bench seats without arm rests.  The waiting room is not heated.  There are 2 steps to the male toilets and 1 shallow step to the female toilets.  Neither are suitable for wheelchairs. Grab rails are fitted to all entrances which have steps.  Immediately adjacent to the terminal building is the “Wind Dog Café.”  This café has ramped access although there is a 55mm threshold at the main door so wheelchair users may require assistance.  The café has ample space for wheelchairs and both male and female toilets are wheelchair accessible with large cubicles and handrails.  Normal opening times are 0900 to 1700 Monday to Friday and 1000 to 1700 Monday to Saturday.  The café re-opens at 1830 Monday to Saturday for evening meals.

Belmont Terminal (Unst)

 

There is no segregation of vehicles and pedestrians on the shore ramp.  The terminal building is situated 77 metres from the ferry ramp.  This facility consists of a waiting room, public telephone kiosk, male and female toilets, each with 2 steps.  The waiting room is heated and has bench seats without arm rests.  Toilet cubicles are small with inward opening doors.  Grab rails are fitted to all entrances which have steps.
