The hall is 100m² with 8 rooms. There is standing capacity for 193 and seating capacity of 124. There were roof repairs done in 2001/2002. A wind turbine and new heating system have recently been installed (2010).
There are plans for extensive refurbishment of the hall – new entrance, revamping the toilet areas, improvements to the meeting room/club room and bar areas. The feasibility study was completed in 2010.
Bixter Public Hall is used for all kinds of local community activities and also hosts events as part of wider Shetland festivals (eg Fiddle & Accordian Festival).
Recent events have included:- Sundat teas, birthday parties, dicsos, bands, quiz nights, regular club meetings - eg line daning, community council meetings, SWRI meetings, farmer's markets, games nights, Chinese nights, etc, etc, etc. Check out 'Bixter Hall' on YouTube.

Users will be charged for the total time they need access to the Hall (or sections of the Hall) - eg for set-up time, pre-event use of kitchen etc
Fees apply for 'normal use' - events that require additional servces - eg extra cleaning, extra electric or gas, large numbers of stewards, etc - will incur additional charges - enquire to Hall for these costs.
