How long will the befriending last?

The scheme asks that volunteers commit initially for a period of 6 months, meeting with a young person or young adult on a weekly or fortnightly basis for a few hours at a time.

The match may go on for longer if the volunteer is able to continue to commit and if the young person/young adult still requires the support.  Each match is regularly reviewed and monitored by scheme staff to ensure it runs smoothly. 

Volunteers are provided with 6 weekly support and supvervision and young people on a 3 monthly (or where appropirate 6 weekly) approach from scheme staff.  We have an open door policy for all involved to come forward for support from scheme staff when they require it.
