Oh what a night! Well whole day actually, if the truth be known! The weather was very kind to us, allowing everybody to spend the whole day outdoors - right up to the wee small hours!

We've still to calculate what the total profit was for the day, as all outgoing still have to be claimed, but the point of the day was really to bring the community together and we certainly managed to achieve that without a doubt! Everybody pitched in together. Isobel and her pals did us proud in the kitchen making sure nobody went hungry.

Thanks to Shetland Canoe Club for the demonstration at midday - hopefully this will be something we can do another year as well. Oscar Charlie made a surprise fly-over and fairly excited everybody there (both young and old) once the stoor settled!!

Conditions were the best we've had so far for fishing, and with many prizes and trophies to be won, the competitive streak began to show. Heaviest fish was won by Wilbert Robertson, Best boat by John Tait, Best Fisherwoman by Grace Williamson (much to Melanie's disappointment, as she had already won it three times and hoped to keep her title), Best Fisherman was won by Leslie Tait, and Harry Tait won for the under-16s. Booby for the smallest fish went to Sebastian who was as far as I know the youngest fisherman, and Debbie had a special prize for being the only fishergirl!

The barbecue was struck up on the return of the fishermen and Tom Deyell and his many talented friends kept us entertained al fresco - a wonderful start to the school holidays, and a superb friendly atmosphere for young and old, locals and visitors. The Bridge End Outdoor Centre Committee would like to thank everyone who help.ed helped in any way We all had an amazing time, we're still buzzing, and can't wait until next year now - mark it in your diaries Saturday 10 July 2010 !
